Uploading Planned Investments

Uploading Planned Investments

This guide will walk you through the process of uploading your tactic plans, whether your objectives are to forecast a plan or to set locked-in tactics within a greater optimization.

Accessing the Feature

Keen allows you to upload investments from the Tactic Constraints tav of any plan build. The upload process differs slightly depending on your objective:

  • Forecast a Plan Objective: Click the "Upload Custom Plan" button in the top right corner.

Default Templates

From within the Upload modal, download the monthly or the weekly investment template. All tactics and periods included in the plan will be reflected, along with any investments previously entered (via upload or manual entry).

Editing Templates

Ensure your file maintains the following structure:

  • The first row should contain "Start Date" followed by the names of tactics.

  • Only include tactics you wish to lock; any omitted will not have locked investments.

  • Blank tactics in the file indicate a locked investment of zero.

Your plan date range and selected tactics will generate a data table, where you can set fixed investment amounts for each tactic. You have the flexibility to decide which tactics to lock in.

Uploading Your File

  1. Drag and drop your file into the upload area or click "browse" to select it from your files.

  2. Check that the file type is XLSX, XLS, or CSV and does not exceed 500 MB.

Post-upload

  • Once uploaded, you can click on any tactic to see the locked plan under the "Locked Plan" tab.

Weekly and Monthly Plan Specifics

Monthly Plans

  • Upload only the monthly values matching the plan's frequency.

Weekly Plans

  • Uploads can be weekly or monthly within the plan range.

  • Monthly input is broken down into daily values before weekly aggregation. The Keen Platform calculates weekly values from monthly investments by first breaking down the investment into daily amounts, and then summing those daily amounts into weekly segments, which may span the end of one month and the beginning of the next. Let’s look at a more accurate breakdown with this approach.

Example: Complete Month Breakdown

Sure, let's apply the daily breakdown method to a $31,000 investment for January, taking into account the overlapping weeks.

  • Week 1 has 6 days

  • Week 2 to Week 4 are full weeks in January.

  • Week 5 has 4 days.

Here’s the step-by-step breakdown:

  1. Calculate Daily Investment:

    • Daily investment for January: $31,000 / 31 days = $1,000 per day.

  2. Sum Daily Investments for Each Week:

    • Week 1: 6 days in January would mean 6 * $1,000 = $6,000 for that week.

    • Week 2-4: Each full week would be 7 * $1,000 = $7,000 per week.

    • Week 5: 4 days in January, so 4 * $1,000 = $4,000 for that partial week.
