Navigation

From the Tactic Constraints tab of any Plan Build, click the Financials button to open the Financial Settings modal.

You’ll see your default price, margin, and tactic cost per activity fields for the plan.

  • Price - the ratio of Revenue to Sales Volume

  • Margin - the ratio of operating income to net sales

  • Factor Cost per Activity - the ratio of Factor activity and investment

Default Values

By default, Plans use the cost-pers from the most recent fiscal year of the underlying model's data snapshot.

If this data snapshot is later resimulated (due to data changes, for example) the cost-pers in the linked Plans will not automatically update. This is done is avoid overriding values that have been intentionally set.

However, if you want to align your financials with those in the most recent data snapshot, you can do so by clicking the "Reset to Last Model Year" button.

Editing Values

Editing projected financials to reflect any anticipated deviations from the historical average. For example:

  • Margin - your operating margin will shrink from 45% to 42% due to rising operating costs.

  • Price - The ratio of sales volume to revenue will increase from $4.50 to $5.00.

  • Factor Cost per Activity - Paid Search activity is Clicks. The cost per click is expected to increase from $1.48 historically to $1.65 in the plan period.

Depending on the degree of change, you should expect changes to the optimal recommended mix and/or profitable investment ceiling.  Learn more here.

Note that these changes should be distinguished from your planned investment:

If the Financials for the total brand, or any tactic, will fluctuate over the duration of the Plan, you can define more granular settings.

Add a Period-Specific Sub-Row

  1. Click the “+” button at the top right of the modal.

  2. A new sub-row appears beneath the default row.

  3. In the sub-row, set:

    • Start Date and End Date for the period.

    • Cost-per-Unit, Price, and Margin values specific to that range.

Tip: You cannot create overlapping date ranges—if you try, the system will prompt you to adjust your dates.

Manage Your Sub-Rows

  • Expand/Collapse: Click the arrow icon next to any tactic to show or hide its sub-rows.

  • Default Behavior: When you reopen the modal, all sub-rows remain collapsed; expand only the ones you need.

  • Edit or Delete: Hover over a sub-row and click the pencil icon to adjust values or the trash icon to remove it.

Step 5: Save and Continue

  • Save & Close: Saves everything you’ve set (including sub-rows) and closes the modal.

  • Cancel: Discards any unsaved changes and leaves your plan unchanged.

If you want to discard all sub-row changes and revert to your default P&L values, click the Reset link at the bottom left of the modal.

Usability Notes

If you duplicate a plan, all sub-row settings carry over to the duplicated plan automatically.
